EOS

So, in a previous post a wrote a little bit about EOS lip balm. I just bought the pomegranate raspberry scented (flavored?) one. Ohmigosh. YUMMMMMMMMMMMM! I mean, I didn't taste it, but it smells ah-maze-ing. I also have the strawberry sorbet and the honeysuckle honeydew. They work really well!

I have not been, nor do I expect to be, compensated for writing this post. I have shared my honest opinion. Links below!

Questions and Answers

Q: What can I do to make my eyeshadow last longer?
Apply eye cream in the morning, the added emollients will make the eyeshadow stick. Also, you can buy a special eyeshadow primer that is designed to make your eyeshadow last longer.

Q: What is the difference between concealer and foundation?
Concealer is used to cover under-eye circles and/or pigmentation problems where foundation is used to even skin tone and cover minor imperfections.

Q: What types of eyeliner are there?
The three main types of eyeliner are pencil, gel/cream, and liquid. I personally prefer pencil, but it all depends on the look you are going for.

Q: Is foundation really a "must have"?
Foundation isn't a "must have" if you don't want it to be. Everybody has a different type of skin, some might have more to cover than others, but if you don't want to have to deal with foundation maybe try concealer.

Q: How do I cover my under-eye circles?
Some people only get under-eye circles when they are tired, but other people get them no matter what they do. I would recommend using some sort of eye cream if you get them chronically, but if you are just tired and you only get them occasionally, try using concealer. If you are in a pinch and you don't have concealer, try using a lot of foundation (being careful that you don't make it look too cakey). It won't cover them completely but you will at least get more coverage than if you didn't wear anything at all.

Q: Does makeup really clog your pores?
Yes, foundation does really clog your pores. If you have acne, wearing makeup is a double-edged sword. Some people feel more confident if they cover their acne, but it can clog your pores making acne worse. I am a foundation-wearing person; it really is a personal preference. But I do recommend washing your face at night to get all of the dirt and makeup out of your pores.

Q: I want to wear makeup, but I don't know how to start.
Depending on your age, you might want to start with just mascara and some powder. If you are older, maybe try a light eyeshadow and some blush. You should start wherever you feel comfortable starting.

Powder

So I've always wanted to try the Bare Minerals powder, but I've never had the chance to... So when I was at CVS, and I saw this, I jumped at the chance to try it! I have only used it once so far, but I really liked it! So I definitely recommend that you try it. But, I cannot say whether or not it works as well as the Bare Minerals powder. Have a great day!

Please!

Please please please tell me what you want to hear about! I read all of your comments, which means that I will read (and answer) every question!

Foundation

Hi everyone! So... today I'm just going to get right to the point (I know, hard to believe, right?). I read in a magazine once that you shouldn't put foundation on your whole face, just on the spots that really need it, because putting it on your whole face creates lines.

I tried it for a little bit, but now I have a routine that's kind of in between. I put a normal amount of foundation on the problem spots, and a light layer of foundation on the other spots. I feel like that gives a more even, natural look. I felt a little bit like a spotted dog/cat when I only had foundation on some spots... what do you guys think?

Shocking... this post was actually quick.

Have a great day!

Face Mask

Hi everyone! How are you? Thank you so much for the pageviews! 53 views yesterday... I am speechless. Which, for those of you who know me, is something that doesn't happen very often. Oh my gosh I have new readers :D

Today should be quick (yeah, right) because it's really just a recipe for a face mask. Would that be called a recipe? I don't know... but anyway, it only requires two ingredients, that you probably have somewhere in your house.

Mix water and baking soda (I found that I need at least 2 or 3 times more baking soda than water) until it makes a paste, and then spread it on your face. Concentrate on the areas where you have blackheads and/or acne. Leave the mask on for twenty minutes, and then wash it off.

I've done it 3 times so far, and the results have been AMAZING! It will burn though, for about 5 minutes, but then it should stop.

Good luck and have a great day!

Confidence Boosters

No matter how confident you are, everyone has days where they just feel terrible. About themselves, about everything in general. But on those days, there are some things that you can do:

  1. Put little sticky notes on your mirrors and the door of your closet saying nice things about yourself, such as: "I look really great in purple" or "I am a really nice person" or "I make some really good grilled cheese" Whatever you want! That way if you are having one of those days, you can look at these posted everywhere and hopefully feel a little better.
  2. Make a list of some things that you are great at and put it somewhere where you will read it a lot.
  3. Don't be so hard on yourself! It may seem like you aren't hard on yourself, but you know that you get those little digs in whenever you are feeling icky. Just loosen up!

Fashion Quotes

"The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years."
-Audrey Hepburn

"The most important thing to remember is that you can wear all the greatest clothes and all the greatest shoes, but you've got to have a good spirit on the inside. That's what's really going to make you look like you're ready to rock the world."
-Alicia Keys

"Don't be into trends. Don't make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live."
-Gianni Versace

"Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak."
-Rachel Zoe

"Be sure what you want and be sure about yourself. Fashion is not just beauty, it's about good attitude. You have to believe in yourself and be strong."
-Adriana Lima

Books :)

Please please please share your ideas in the comments section! :)

I know that this blog is about fashion and makeup, but two of my passions are reading and writing. And I read. A lot. So I have decided that a part of this blog will most definitely be books. If I read something really good, I'm going to share it here. What do you think? So without further ado: Some of my favorite books!

The Dead Girls Detective Agency (By: Suzy Cox)
The Lying Game Series (By: Sara Shepard)
The Twilight Saga (By: Stephenie Meyer)
The Host (By: Stephenie Meyer)
You Wish (By: Mandy Hubbard)
Prada and Prejudice (By: Mandy Hubbard)
Magic In Manhattan Series (By: Sarah Mlynowski)

Enjoy! I hope you like them as much as I do. Have a great day!

I am in no way being compensated for writing this post, and I own no rights to any of the books mentioned here.

Lipbalm and School Supply Style

First- something new (to me): EOS (Evolution of Smooth) Lipbalm. My favorite is the green (Honeysuckle Honeydew). Wow. That was a lot of parentheses.

Second- School Supply ideas! I don't know when you start school, that's why I'm writing this post so early.

Binder: Make a scrapbook page to put in the front cover instead of plain pictures. Or you can get a patterned binder that doesn't have a front pouch, to make it easier.

Pencil Case: You can decorate a hard pencil case, if that's what your supply list calls for, but most supply lists for older grades don't call for one at all, you can do whatever you want. I like ones that go in your binder, because it is an easy way to keep everything you need (besides textbooks) in one place (That one place being your binder). I prefer clear ones, with colorful edges, but get whatever makes you happy, because you're the one that has to look at it all year! ;) Just a warning, the white ones tend to get grubby :(

Dividers: When you write on the tabs for your notebook dividers, use pretty colored pens or markers.

Pens: When you go shopping for supplies such as pens, go with standard black for some of them (for essays and reports), but get some colorful ones as well! You can color-code your notes that way.

Notebooks: If you are feeling crafty, get plain notebooks and decorate them with duct tape. But you can also get pretty notebooks from the store.

Flash Drives: Many teachers will require you to have a flash drive so you can do projects on the computer, upload them to flashdrive, and then bring them to him/her so they can view your project. They sell so many cute flashdrives! Some of them look like animals, some of them have cute patterns, and some of them come in pretty colors.

Backpacks: Backpacks all depend on the person. Some people prefer to carry a large purse for their things, but if you have a jam-packed schedule, you might not have time to go to your locker after every class to drop off/pick up your books, so you might be better off to go with a tote bag or a backpack. But, if you don't mind carrying some things, and your teachers don't care that you can't fit everything in your bag (Resulting in some of your books being on the floor instead of in your bag) then go ahead and use whatever you want!

Pencils: If your teachers don't have a preference, I prefer using mechanical pencils, because you don't have to get up and disturb the class with the really loud pencil sharpener. And some schools don't let you have the plastic manual ones that you keep at your desk.

Page Protectors: Get page protectors and put one in each subject's section in your binder, that way your homework won't get lost or damaged.

Schedule: Most school schedules are plain black and white. Try getting a piece of paper, and write out (and color code) your school schedule and make it prettier. You can also keep another page protector in your binder to keep it from getting lost or damaged.

Saturday, June 8, 2013

Alright, so yesterday's post was pretty short about my aunt's blog. Truthfully, my aunt is one of the main people in my life. She is funny, smart, pretty and sweet :) I don't know what I would do without her.

She was recently diagnosed with a desmoid tumor in her abdomen. Desmoid tumors are very rare and aren't cureable, but they can be managed. She is currently taking two different medicines a day, in hopes that they will soften the tumor enough for it to be removable via surgery.

She just started her blog. Her story is so inspiring, and please go check it out!

Have a great day!

Lipstick and Lipgloss... And A Little Begging

Please please please please please tell me about your ideas! I will write about each and every idea that you give me, and trust me, I am desperate for ideas! So today... I am going to talk about lipgloss and lipstick. It's my favorite topic, in case you couldn't tell.

Lipgloss
Lipgloss 2
Lipgloss 3
Lipgloss 4
Lipgloss 5

Lipstick
Lipstick 2
Lipstick 3
Lipstick 4 (This one is really bright, perfect for a daring look)
Lipstick 5

I know, I know, I post too many links, but I really love links because I feel like if I give you one link, and you don't like it, then what are you going to do? And if I don't give you any links, then I wouldn't really be giving you fashion tips, it would be more of a 'wear pink and lipstick' sort of thing, and that wouldn't be much fun to read now, would it? I swear, I am the queen of run-on sentences.

So please comment if you want me to write about something! Any idea is a good idea. Have a great day! Erm... night!

Happy June And Colors To Make You Look Tan

Today is going to be fast. Wait, no, whenever I say it's going to be fast, it ends up being slow and I'm late for whatever I had to leave for. So let me rephrase that: This post is going to be looong. Maybe that will work... we shall see.

So I know that after my last post (after reading it back over I realize how obvious it was that you should use tanning oil. Sorry...) you're probably wondering what you can wear to look tan, even if you really aren't. Trust me, I'm a pro at this.

The major thing is that you have to wear bright colors! Such as:
  • Coral
  • Neons (Any neon color will do)
  • Pastels
  • White
And black tank tops under neon shirts make them look brighter, which in turn makes you look even more tan. So this was shorter-ish (?) than usual... I think. Maybe I'm just long-winded and I can't write a short post. It wouldn't shock me if that was the case. Anyway... have a great day! Oh, and ~Happy June~
